I got this in an email from a friend. If it’s true it wouldn’t surprise me. Big companies have a reputation for following policies rather than using common sense. I actually ran into something similiar just this week while talking to Citibank of all people. Yes, the call center was in India.

Hey Gang.
A quick note: Keep an eye on the stock market. It’s been too hot this year. Especially last week. I pulled my money out because I expect a market correction. Meaning I expect the market to go down. If we get a few days of heavy losses, I’ll happily re-buy the 2 shares of IVV I just sold last week @ $153.50.
So that’s my stock buying and selling strategy. Pretty simple hey?

Well I’m happy to report I made my first stock trade 2 days ago with Zecco. If you recall the market was down last Tuesday. It’s what they call a “sell off”. I use my google home page to track a few stocks and the S&P 500 index. I like the S&P 500 because I must see it 20 times a day as I’m opening my web-browser. It’s also not risky like an Ebay type stock because I don’t think the entire stock market will go bankrupt. It doesn’t seem to move around so much. I feel I have a good instinct of what it’s doing.
As I wrote about last time, I moved $500 from my ING Direct account to Zecco. I thought “Why not buy some stocks when they’re on sale?”
I wanted to stay with the S&P 500 so I found what’s called an “index fund”. It simply matches the S&P 500 index. The ticker symbol is IVV (If you want to play along). (more…)
